College

January 16, 2009, 11:53 AM

At about 11:30 last night, Will came back from drinking beer at the neighbors and woke me up. He said he had a great idea, and wouldn't wake me up if he didn't think I'd like it.

I had taken some migraine medication and had an upset tummy, but I crawled out of bed and went to hear him out. He was so excited. And actually, I'm glad I got up.

He said that he didn't realize it before, but there were two ways I could go to college. One, work part-time somewhere and put ALL my income toward school instead of pooling it with the household money. Or two, get the student loans and pay them back after I finished school and had a job.

"Yes! He finally thinks they're his own ideas!" I thought. You see, I presented those two ideas to him last January when I went to the college to find out about student aid. He didn't like either of them. If we couldn't afford college out of pocket, then I couldn't go. Period.

I was wrestling with the idea of asking him why he didn't like those ideas when I presented them. But I'm not going to say a word. I'm going to pretend that he is a genius, go along with the idea of my choosing, and go back to school.

Happy Face! Snoopy Dance!
