When I Accept the Responsibility

March 31, 1998

I've got to accept the responsibility for my own happiness. I think that determining and analyzing the cause of my depression could help me to change the action patterns I've established that contribute to my depression. Maybe by changing my actions, I can successfully rid myself of my depression.

Even if counter-action is just rationalization, it may help.

According to the test I just took, my main cognitive distortion is "All or Nothing Thinking."

I want to change... Currently, I choose to... When I accept the responsibility to make myself happier, I will...
the fact that I smoke smoke stop smoking
how I act when I'm angry throw fits and yell or cry respect others by not screaming

take time to evaluate what is being said before replying

reply calmly

not be so defensive
my activity level not exercise

exercise at set time daily

schedule home duties so they're not over-powering or accumulate until there's EVERYTHING to do

manage my time better
diet eat and cook with fats make myself healthier meals

plan grocery shopping to help my diet too

eat breakfast
appearance neglect my appearance put mayonnaise on my hair

buy hair conditioner

get out in the sun
