Sites To Help You Understand Abuse

Patricia Evans' Verbal Abuse Bulletin Board: You must call to register for this bulletin board. When I called, I spoke to Ms. Evans herself. She asked some appropriate questions before setting me up with an account. The idea is that we're all safe on the board - it's unlikely that any abuser will gain access to this site. Excellent resource, excellent company.

Dr. Irene's Verbal Abuse Site: Dr. Irene's site features letters written to her about abuse with her answers written alongside in conversation format. The site is very warm and encouraging even though I found the layout distracting at first. The link takes you to her excellent "Signs of Verbal Abuse" page - please explore the rest of the site too.

Leaving Abuse: Abuse survivor shares how to plan for a financially secure and emotionally stable future and how to leave the relationship safely. Instead of leaving for a life of uncertainty, you'll be leaving for a new life, full of prospects and opportunity.

Battered Men - Abuse is gender neutral, but the courts don't always see it that way. This site advises battered men and provides stories suited to the battered husband's plight.

Abusive Love: A complete site for understanding and coping with abusive verbal behavior.

Verbal Abuse: This informational article written by Kerby Anderson of Probe Ministries concisely sums up the characteristics of verbal abuse.

Narcissistic Abuse: Focuses on leaving relationships that make you feel bad and finding freedom from relationship tyranny, control and manipulation.

Not To People Like Us: Great house? Really comfortable income? College degree? An upscale abused woman typically buys into the myth that it doesn't/shouldn't happen "to people like us." She isolates and keeps secret the abuses trying to maintain her image within her community as well as personal and professional spheres.

Spiritual Help for Abuse Victims: This site is intended for both victims and those who want to learn more about the issue and how to help those who are suffering from the effects of abuse in their lives.
